Avid today announced the release of their hotly anticipated update to their Pro Tools software - v2025.6. It’s been a long time coming, but one look at the new feature list and you may think the extended time was worth it.
This release feels uniquely balanced, offering significant upgrades for both music creators and post-production professionals.
For the music users, Splice integration, the cloud-based music creation platform, allows access to millions of royalty-free one-shots, loops, and sound effects at Pro Tools users' fingertips. Yes, you could spends days searching for the right sample, but the use of AI will analyse the audio in your timeline and find your creatives matches. Scary, but enormously clever. However it’s not all free - access is limited to around 2500 samples with an option to subscribe for $12.99/month to gain access to the full library.
Post-production users are also in for a treat with Avid's long-awaited ADR integration. Finally, Pro Tools offers a built-in solution for ADR workflows, a feature that has been requested for decades. By integrating Cue Pro, developed by Non-Lethal Applications, ADR and Foley workflows are revolutionized. Cue Pro renders ADR overlays directly into the Pro Tools video output, eliminating the need for separate video players or MIDI sync/Satellite sync. A single Cue Pro Connect plugin links everything, streamlining cue data management within the Pro Tools session.
One important point: The Cue Plug-in is NOT included in Pro Tools and must be purchased separately. However, buyers can take advantage of their Early Bird offer which provides 20% off all Cue Pro purchases or upgrades from ADR Master Editor.
And one more important point: It may be a coincidence, but there is currently an Avid promotion this month offering 20% off new Pro Tools subscriptions. You can find the discounted pricing on the Mediaspec website.
