The M 149 Tube is a modern version of Neumann’s famous M 49 microphone. Like its predecessor, it uses the classic K47/49 large diaphragm capsule in an acoustically open headgrille. This universal studio microphone contains 9 selectable polar patterns, and its innovative transformerless tube circuit ensures optimal sound with lowest self-noise.

Introducing the Neumann M 149, a highly regarded variable dual diaphragm condenser microphone offering warm vintage sound combined with modern technology. It is the first tube microphone designed by Neumann in over 30 years and, based on the classic U 47, contains a K49 capsule. The Capsule is followed by a tube functioning as an impedance converter and the tube has transformerless output circuit design. This means the M149 can feed long cables without any colouration to the sound. The Neumann delivers unmistakable tube condenser warmth with the clarity and precision of a modern capsule.

Below the attractive headgrille are two slide switches which allow the selection of nine directional patterns. The slide switch at the rear of the Neumann operates a seven-step high pass filter. This microphone has the lowest self-noise of any tube microphone on the market due to its expert modern circuitry. It is a highly regarded microphone for recording vocals and horns and gives a very natural sound. It cannot be stressed enough – Neumann’s flagship microphone delivers superb quality.
