We speak to Livia Nagy, former student with SSR Manchester, about what it’s like to win a Mediaspec Award.
Mediaspec: When did you receive a Mediaspec award and what was it awarded for?
Livia: I received the Mediaspec Award in 2014 for Outstanding Qualities.
Mediaspec: What have you done since you graduated from SSR?
Livia: When I was graduating I was full of worries about finding a job in sound. Happily, it took less than a month to get my first job and I haven't been out of work for a day since. I couldn't be happier. I’ve worked in theatre productions, sound studios, festivals, film shootings, classical and jazz music venues. At the moment I am working in a 5 star resort in Cyprus mixing around twenty different shows.
Mediaspec: How did winning the Mediaspec Award benefit you?
Livia: It is certainly a line on my CV that makes me stand out from the crowd. I have been asked about it during interviews and have always received good responses to it. It certainly encourages trust in me from an employer's side of view.
Mediaspec: What are your hopes for the future?
Livia: By now I have tried most fields in sound and I am pretty sure I would like to work in theatre for the rest of my career. I am saving up for my Masters Degree at the moment. If everything goes as planned I can enrol next year. I can't wait!
Mediaspec: What advice would you give to future winners of the Mediaspec Award?
Livia: Anyone who achieves this award does so for something they did exceptionally well. The start of my career was not easy and many others may find themselves to be in similar situation. My advice would be to not worry, just keep up the hard work and have faith in yourself and what you do and it will certainly pay off, sooner or later
