Avid Undergoes RebrandingApr 09, 2018 - 01:56
The various levels of Pro Tools software has always caused confusion. To combat this, Avid has ditched their Pro Tools | HD for Pro Tools Ultimate. There are now three clearly defined flavours of Pro Tools software.
Pro Tools | First – For artists just beginning their journey in recording and production,
Pro Tools | First gives you the tools you need to get started and turn ideas into music. Compose, record, mix and collaborate in the cloud with a streamlined creative toolset built on industry‐standard Pro Tools – for FREE.
Pro Tools – For musicians, composers, engineers and mixers that need to take their music to the next level, Pro Tools delivers the industry’s most powerful, comprehensive, and relied upon audio and MIDI toolset for expanding creative possibilities, commercial opportunities and maximizing efficiency.
Pro Tools | Ultimate – Pro Tools | Ultimate is the most definitive and comprehensive toolset for music and audio post production. Featuring seamless integration with EUCON‐enabled control surfaces, best‐in‐class interfaces, and game‐changing immersive audio workflows with Dolby Atmos, Pro Tools | Ultimate is proven to meet the demands of the world’s most respected content creators in music, film, and television.
Coinciding with Avid's rebranding exercise is the release of Pro Tools 2018.4. This update includes your normal array of bug fixes and tweaks, but the nice surprise for the newly named Pro Tools | Ultimate owners is the inclusion of Machine Control and the Avid Complete Plug-in Bundle. Downloading the latest Pro Tools software requires you to be on a current Pro Tools Plan. Not on a Plan, don't worry, options are available from Mediaspec. Contact our team on 01355 272500.
