Frank Lovering and Dennis Donnelly left Greenfield Park this afternoon upset at watching their side lose a goal in the closing minutes and as a result all three points. A William Da Silva goal three minutes from time gave Shettleston a 3-2 victory and extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points.

Benburb make the short journey across Glasgow this Saturday (kick-off 2pm) to face a Shettleston side that are 10 points ahead of the Govan men. The sides met only last month and shared the points in an exciting 2-2 draw at Tinto Park with Billy Ferguson (left) and Tony O'Neill the goalscorers for Benburb.

Allan Richford has been released at his own request. The young midfielder has become increasingly frustrated at his lack of action and asked to move on. Allan signed for Benburb in July 2006 and made 38 appearances, scoring once.

Everyone at Tinto Park wishes Allan well for the future.

Benburb defender Billy Davidson has been out of action since 10 December 2005. Billy suffered a broken shinbone in an away game against Wishaw and has been on the long road to recovery since.

Gareth McLelland has left Benburb at his own request. The striker, who arrived at Tinto Park from Yoker Athletic in September, made only 3 appearances.

An 88th minute goal from Shaun Finan (left) enabled Benburb to maintain their unbeaten home league record this season. Greenock raced into a 2 goal lead after only 18 minutes. Tomasz Lisinski pulled one back before half-time. Benburb dominated the second period but had to wait until the closing minutes to draw level.

Benburb welcome Greenock Juniors to Tinto Park this Saturday in what is an important Central District League Second Division game. Victory for Benburb would see them leap over Greenock in the race for promotion. The sides met at Ravenscraig Stadium back in September and thanks to a wonder show by Bens keeper Joe Ghattas (left), Benburb returned to Govan with a valuable point.

Benburb have an early opportunity to gain revenge on Johnstone Burgh for their recent West of Scotland Cup defeat. The sides have been drawn in the first round of the Central League Cup at Keanie Park. Benburb lost out on penalty kicks that afternoon after Kevin McGlinchey and Tony O'Neill (left) had put the Govan men ahead. No date has yet been set for the game.

The winners will face Pollok or Arthurlie away in the second round.

Benburb's league game at Stonehouse Violet this afternoon has been postponed due to a frozen pitch. Next up for Benburb is a home league match against Greenock next Saturday, 17 February 2007.
