Benburb
welcome promotion chasing Greenock Juniors to
Tinto Park this Saturday (kick-off 1.45pm) in
what should be an engrossing league meeting.
A home win would put the Govan side two points
behind Greenock with two games in hand.
Joe Ghattas (left) was the Benburb hero back
in September at Ravenscraig Stadium when the
sides drew 1-1 despite the home side finishing
the game with nine men. More

Today's
league game at Forth has been postponed due to
a waterlogged pitch.

Benburb
visit Forth this Saturday looking to keep up
their promotion bid against a side with similar
ambitions. Both sides are locked on 18 points,
but the Govan side have three games in hand.
Last season's corresponding game at Kingshill
Park ended in a 1-1 draw with Bens skipper Bobby
MacMillan (left) scoring. Stuart Robertson returns
to the squad after serving a 2 game suspension.

Benburb
midfielder Mark McMenemy has been released at
his own request. Mark signed from Johnstone Rovers
in May 2006 and made 7 starts with 3 appearances
as a substitute.
Everyone at Tinto Park wishes Mark all the
best for the future.

WITH LEAGUE LEADERS |

Benburb
and league leaders Shettleston fought out a 2-2
draw at Tinto Park on Saturday afternoon. Benburb
went behind to an Andy Thomson penalty kick in
the 25th minute. Billy Ferguson (left) scored
his 12th goal of the season in the 40th minute.
Tony O'Neill put Bens ahead in the 47th minute
only for Andy Thomson to put the visitors level
in the 65th minute.

A brave
Benburb performance was not enough as they crashed
out of the Scottish Junior Cup 2-0 at the hands
of Bo'ness United. Two goals from Scott Brown
were enough to see the East Region Super League
side into the next round.

Benburb
Honorary President Tommy Douglas was presented
with a Long Service Award to Scottish Junior
Football by Tom Johnston, Secretary SJFA, after
the game against Bo'ness United. (Click here for
pic).
Tommy played Benburb, Dunipace, Petershill, Kilsyth
Rangers and Ashfield in the 1950's. Tommy joined
the Benburb committee when he retired from football
and has been with the club ever since. Tommy was
Match Secretary when the club last reached the
Scottish Junior Cup final in 1980. If ever anyone
deserved this award it is Tommy.

tie against Bo'ness United at Tinto Park. |
| BENS UNBEATEN LEAGUE
RUN ENDS AT ST ROCH'S |

Benburb's
unbeaten league came to an end this afternoon
at Provanmill Park. Bens came from 2-0 down with
the goals coming from Stuart Robertson and Donnie
McDonald (left) only to lose a goal with three
minutes remaining.

Benburb’s
unbeaten record this season continued following
their win against Saltcoats Victoria in
the West of Scotland Cup. After 90 minutes the
match was deadlocked at 1-1, leaving both teams
to face the ultimate test of nerve as the game
went straight to penalties. 4-2 in favour to
the Bens means they go through to the next round.

Prior
to our 5-0 win against Royal Albert Athletic
in the first round of the Scottish Junior Cup,
Benburb completed the signing of four players.
Tinto Park regulars would have recognised three
of them as Lorn Gibson (left), Scott Williamson
and Gary Martin re-signed for the club.

Scottish Junior Cup at the Linlithgow Rose Social
Club. Benburb drew a home tie against crack East
Region side Bo'ness United. The tie will be played

today with a convincing 5-0 win against Royal
Albert Athletic. Striker, Billy Ferguson, who
is never shy in front of goal, scored a hat-trick.
2 further goals were credited to Tony O'Neill
and Shaun Finan.
