Within the new forum, there is a forum dedicated for Mediaspec Players only. This forum contains information such as meeting times for training and games. It is of no interest to anyone outside the team. The players themselves cannot send messages to this forum. It is purely an information service for Mediaspec players.

Anyone can post a message in the Mediaspec AFC Football Stuff forum. The new forum does appear quite tricky at first, especially if you attempt to register. However, give it a go, you don't need to register if you don't want to. All you have to do is click on the New Topic button, then enter a Topic Title (no need to enter a Topic description), then write your post in the area called Enter your post. Once finished, click on the Post New Topic button. Good luck!

There are two interesting games this weekend.  The heavyweights of the first division play each other: Cavendish and Auchengill.  There is also Cotters away to Castlemilk in the cup.    Castlemilk are quite hot on their gravel pitch, and have some excellent players.

Good luck Godfrey (Castlemilk’s manager)

Can’t believe the comments I am reading about the brilliant No 10.  He didn’t have his best game yesterday, but he still managed to score 2 goals on a dodgy artificial surface that should be made illegal for health reasons alone !!!

As you said, ‘thank God he doesn’t play for the Cotters’.  I agree with you because he would probably be your top scorer as he is with Mediaspec.  Furthermore, he would never leave a club like Mediaspec for the Cotters.

I have asked the club to put a video on the site with the big No 10 so that you can judge for yourself.  If you have the right software, you can download it to your hard drive before making a slick DVD – But don’t try selling it at the barrows – our lawyers are watching!!!!! (joke – no more rumours please)

Finally, I would never criticise one of your players in case it wound him up so much that he would come back to haunt me by banging in  a hat-trick.

Ps Why didn’t you stay until the end to support Pollockshields?

To all concerned I appreciate that you r attracting new players but take
note these players approached us first of all and we were told that we
couldn‚t use heilen players we couldn‚t give a monkeys who you sign but the
fact we were told we couldn‚t sign the players that r now playing for your
mob is despicable, and as for the statement of legal action look a bit
closer to home to find were that info comes from. So question for you
If other clubs in the league were told that under no circumstances can they
sign heilen players that were registered at the time they were expelled from
the league how come you lot managed to sign them.

It is absolute nonsense to say that Mediaspec made a complaint about Cotters using unregistered players.  Why the hell would Mediaspec think your team was using unregistered players?  It is also dribble to say that Mediaspec threatened the league with lawyers.  Anyone with sense will realise that you don’t upset league officials.  Please get your facts right before making such wild and inaccurate statements.  You simply cannot make such ‘factual’ statements on the basis of idle gossip.

So what if Mediaspec is attracting excellent players from other clubs? That is quite normal in football.  It is not only Heilan players who have joined this club over the years – but it is your apparent obsession with Heilan players that seems to be unsettling you.

Your team has done brilliantly this season by remaining undefeated, and I’m sure your achievements have not gone unnoticed by the Mediaspec lads, and the rest of the league.  In fact, we welcome the challenge, and think it is great for the league that your team is so strong, especially since Heilan no longer exist.  Games between Heilan and Mediaspec were usually brilliant games, so let’s hope games between Cotters and Mediaspec will be equally as entertaining.

Mediaspec have a home game this Sunday, you are all welcome to come and watch us.  When are we going to get an invitation to watch you guys play?????

Well done in bullying the league with the threat of lawyer action if you cant get your own way.
I.E if you cant use heilan players. What next if cotters win the league get a lawyer to tell us to award the league title to mediaspec
Your club is a joke just how far will you go to get your own way. I will leave that open to the readers to make their mind up.(if this gets shown that is)
By the way the heilan players you are using havnt been released yet either.
And bad luck with the calling the league and saying we were using unregistered players as I have a copy of all player registrations stamped by the leagues
Sorry bout that

Ps when u joined the league you agreed to the stipulations in the leagues constitution so why be so DESPERATE now that you would pay a lawyer to get your own way. What is it its ma baw and am no playing and watch were you are spitting that dummy you could have someones eye out

What!!! A Cotters person at Mediaspec’s ground watching Mediaspec (haha) – Must be terribly worried if he/she prefers watching Mediaspec than the Cotters.

Absolute nonsense about the state of the pitch.  I suppose you were standing on the muddy grass verge outside peering through the 10 feet gates because you did not wish to pay the 50p admission money.  The pitch was excellent considering the severe winter we have experienced.

Also, about that goal that you claim was sliced into the net -  It’s a goal, and that’s all that matters (you are so worried my friend).  I apologise profusely that the goal was not up to your standard.  Perhaps you could have said how Mediaspec dominated the match and could have won 10 – 1 – but no, surprisingly, you instead pass comments that reveal a touch of sour grapes over our brilliant team and stadium.

Finally, your team would do anything to have our brilliant midfield warrior in your team.

Please come and see us again.

Cotters  seem to be criticising Mediaspec for getting new players, but are they saying that they have never had a new player in their ranks, or are they simply admitting their fear that Mediaspec  are attracting top quality players?

If they are so good, where are they not in the Scottish Cup?  This is a tournament where you are playing against top teams from around the country.

Mediaspec have indeed lost two games this season, but don’t let that fool you.  We lost against the Grapes 2 –1 when we had 8 players, and even then, we should have won when we still managed to play them off the park.  We also lost to Legate when the referee disallowed a good goal that would have been the winner (see the goal on video from this site).  I reckon the referee panicked when he saw the golf balls flying on the pitch.

Anyway, carry on bragging – if that makes you happy - we shall remain silent and do our talking on the pitch.

Match reporter here.

Nice and welcoming comments from the Bank Street player.  It is never my intention to write a bias match report, and I always try and give the other team some kind of credit regardless of well they have played.  I actually thought  your team was the toughest opponents Mediaspec has faced in the last two years, and that includes Harvester – last year’s cup winners.  You guys were as tough as nails, and your defence was awesome.  I honestly cannot see many teams beating you, so it was very pleasing to beat such a good team – especially as we had come  to Dundee with a depleted squad.

It not a criticism that your team has big burly guys; these are the type of rugged players every team loves to have at their disposal. Regarding Mediaspec’s midfield battle warrior, he is not the biggest, but he is incredibly brave in the tackle – and he has a lot of flair, as well as being two footed.  He was playing against guys twice his size – and I thought he handled himself well.

The pitch did not suit Mediaspec either, and we would have preferred the better park.

All the best for this season.

well done to the media on there Scottish cup win against the bank street. even though the match report seems slightly bias you did say we were or looked a well organised strong and have several gifted players which is true. just a pitty that our home park was called off at 9 in the morning instead of having a later inspection, which i think was our down fall this is not the old sour grapes or nippy sweeties coming into action here, i just thought I'd point out that the several gifted players that you did see never performed to there usually ability which has been week in week out. if it had been at our home park and other players performed as i said to there ability then [no disrespect] we would have certainly have beat you's. this is my opinion everyone has one, all there is left to say now is good luck and all the best in your forth coming Scottish cup fixtures.

p.s.
as for us supposed rugged players what about your centre mid [baldy] kick to kill is that has moto? and you's have a good skipper who cofronts the ref on every decision making him forget to book players but thats his job! once again well done better team won on the day here's to next year for us hope to meet yous again.

It has taken us the best part of 20 years to win the trophy and it was well worth the wait, however you have a well orginised set-up and i'm sure if you keep the majority of your players (and keep them on the park whilst playing) you will be there or there abouts next year, maybe next year we will meet in the final.

see if you got a better camera with a good zoom lens you will find the ball was still on the ground when the harvester player challenged for the ball so untill the ball is of the ground and in you're keepers hands a player is entitled to challenge for it.

p,s it's a good web site but dont make it all one sided as there are two teams on the park

Message Posted April 10th 2004

Our Match Reporter answers his critics...

It would seem that some of the Harvester camp have taken offence at sections of the match report. That was never my intension, but if you look closely enough, the underlying message being conveyed is that Harvester possibly won the game because they were more astute in a number of ways.

Yes, Harvester did foul the keeper to get that dramatic equaliser. Nobody can deny that fact. But how many players would have gone in there to get the ball when it was already in the keeper’s possession? Not many, but surely it is the Harvester player who deserves credit for turning a lost cause into a goal.

Regarding the penalty, I would say it was not a penalty because the ball was traveling so fast that the Mediaspec player had no chance in getting his arm out of the way. It was therefore not a deliberate handball offence - hence the reason why I referred to the matter as a dodgy decision. The newspapers yesterday were full of a similar incident that happened in Thursday's UEFA game - and rightly so, because it was a major talking point. The referee disallowed a goal because he must have felt the player had used his arms deliberately when scoring. Depending on what team you support, you would say: it was dodgy decision, or the referee was kind to us.

Regarding Harvester’s winning goal, at least we can all agree that it was a great goal.

The head butting incident that occurred in the first game was most unfortunate. I have to say there were mitigating factors that led to the incident. The goalie simply did not simply just head butt the player. However, the goalie accepts what he did was wrong, and I’m sure if the Harvester players met this quiet lad, they would soon realise that it was completely out of character. The goalie concerned will be out of action for a while; hence the reason why Mediaspec brought in a new keeper as you have obviously noticed. But I am surprised at your subtle reaction. Has the same Harvester keeper played in all of your Scottish Cup ties? Have you never had new players?

I stick by the point I made about the match being played in Edinburgh. Had the match been played in Paisley, which is near Glasgow, it would have been unfair for Harvester, in terms of extra traveling costs, and a reduction in the number of your fans traveling. It was a general point I made to encourage everyone, including Harvester, to perhaps fight for your rights when such decisions are made. Extra fans could make that difference between winning and losing.

I also stick by my views on the first sending off. I honestly did not see a head butt. I saw a head to head confrontation involving both players.

Regarding the seven minutes added time, Mediaspec were winning 2-0 with 9 minutes remaining, so it does not make sense what you are saying about Mediaspec’s keeper. Are you saying that he wasted 7 minutes time in the last 9 minutes? Can you imagine the uproar if, for example, Man U were winning a cup match, and the referee added on 7 minutes? Can you imagine the even greater uproar if the team scored against united during these added minutes, when it was really a foul? That’s the beauty of football, these weird things happen. The scenario would make great headlines; but it would have nothing to do with being a bad loser.

I ended my report by discussing ways in which Mediaspec could improve and reach that next level. I posed questions relating to their experience of playing Harvester, and what they could learn. I doubt very much that the Harvester players deliberately set out to foul the Mediaspec keeper, but I am asking whether the Mediaspec players should adopt a similar style and battle more with the opposing goalie. It worked for Harvester. I am also drawing attention to the importance of having a rapport with the referee, and dealing with unfair decisions.

What a game you lot have coming up in the semi. I’d love to come, but your supporters might not approve. I could even do a short match report and link it to this site, but then I would get the Sangeet mob on my back.

Good luck in the semi, and enjoy it while it lasts. Who knows, you could be lifting the Cup.

Subject: match report v harvester

Well where do I start lets talk about our (harvester) four goals in the two games
The media camp say
no.1 it was a clear foul on the goalie (first game)
no.2 a dodgy penalty
no.3 a clear foul on the goalie
no.4 well even the biased media reporter couldn't find fault with that one
A number of points about your report really put a smile on my face, lets not let the facts get in the way of a good story eh lads?

If it wasn't for a serious assault by the media goalie on a harvester player
In the first game that game would have finished 1.0 (even youse cant say different) but youse got another chance at it and again failed you talk about a biased ref against youse but you fail to mention the decisions that went against us for example the deliberate hand ball (which I thought was inside the box only for the ref to give a free kick on the 18 yard line) now surely that is at least a yellow card offence even though the player involved was already on a booking (under fifa law of course) come to think of it how many bad bookable offences did your no.4 j.d get away with before youse had to take him off as for the 7 mins extra time played well if you count the 30 seconds for each of the five subs that were used and the amount of time your goalie took for each by kick then you wouldn’t be too far away from 7 mins with that alone next lets talk about the neutral venue. It cost us as a club £390 expenses to play this game (3 mins to go in the first game at home??????) as your home park is Coatbridge and ours is Livingston I fail to see where you think we had some sort of advantage as for one of your red cards you say the player says there was no contact well let me assure you thats not the case it wasn't as serious as the first game but it was still a headbutt (or maybe that big bad ref, linesman, player are just all out to get youse) as youse seem to think we have a tactic of kicking a ball out the keepers hand well surely rabs tactics is to headbutt players 4 red cards two for headbutts in two games oh youse poor media boys really have been bullied by us big bad streetwise harvester boy.

p.s will someone tell your players and reporter your goalkeeper in the replays name as most of your players seemed to call him just keeper when shouting for the ball and the reporter just calls him paul hopefully we will meet again as I can assure you we didn't play at all well in any of the two games although it was enough to win twice all the best for the rest of your season.

I don't think the person who stated Mediaspec were bad losers fully understood the match report. I thought the report was a very clever piece of writing. The referee was a main feature of the game and was rightfully mentioned. Even the team who were playing on the next pitch thought he was dreadful. The report was actually very complimentary about Harvester for being streetwise, and suggests that Mediaspec will have to adopt the same attitude
if thyy want to progress to the next level. It would be nice to hear from the goal scorer to hear hi

No winner of this week's tote - which means one thing: a bumper rollover next week! So could all players remember to bring their completed forms and collection money with them this Thursday at training. On another note, some players have requested that their training tops should contain their initials in order to avoid confusion. It has been decided that this will be arranged, the costs of which will be met by sponsorship and club funds. Could all players please bring their training tops to training this Thursday. They will be returned the following week.

It has been a while since the last entry, but as we start a new year, let's hope that we pick up where we left off. The next game is this Sunday against Mermaids Bar. This is the fifth round of the Famous Grouse Trophy. Kick off is at 1pm in Coatbridge. After the game, we have invited our opponents to the Log Cabin bar in Bailleston for some refreshments. It appears that Mermaids Bar are bringing along a good number of supporters, so let's make it a day to remember by providing everyone with a truly brilliant game. Good luck to Mediaspec!

The last game of the year will be the cup game against The Boars Rock. The league will resume on January 11th 2004. Let's finish the year off in style! Details about training during the holidays will be announced on the 11th December. Due to the limited numbers available for the cup game coach to Dundee, please have names/numbers ready for this forthcoming training session. Club funds will be used for the players, however, given the cost of the coach, it is requested that supporters pay for the trip. Costs: £6.00 for adults, £3.00 for children.

The Cup game agaist GMSC will be on grass. Pitch name: Battery Park. Kick off at 12pm. Meeting point: Kwik Save, Govan 10am for both players and supporters buses. Remember, clocks go back 2am Sunday morning, so don't show up at 9am. I am sure all Mediaspec players will have a quiet night in and will be in bed by 11pm. On a serious note, GMSC are obviously up for this game, so no doubt we will give our usual 100%. Good luck everyone. Also, GMSC have kindly invited us back to their local so we can share a customary, good spirited drink.
