Here at Mediaspec we have years of experience in installing, configuring and maintaining data storage solutions. Be it for sharing, backup or archiving.
Dynamic Drive Pool, conveniently abbreviated to DDP, is the perfect shared storage solution. It is essentially a pool of drives from which virtual or logical volumes can be created and accessed via ethernet. SAN (Storage Area Network) is the term that is attributed to this type of system. A SAN system allows data to be read and written in terms of blocks, allowing network volumes to appear and behave like local storage.
At the heart of every DDP system is a technology known as AVFS (Ardis Virtual File System), the metadata controller responsible for managing access on the ethernet SAN. The result is a system providing excellent high bandwidth project and file level based sharing, while maintaining simultaneous read and write access for all connected client computers.
Applications/software manufacturers supported include:
- Avid Pro Tools
- Avid Media Composer
- Apple Final Cut
- Adobe applications
- Digital Vision
- Grass Valley
Results with this system can provide sustained data rates 2-3 times higher then regular NAS systems. All this from using standard ethernet connections.
